The St. Thomas More Fraternity is a local community of the Secular Franciscan Order, OFS in Harrisburg, PA. We are lay Catholic men and women, married and single, who are called to live the Gospel in the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi in our daily lives.
Secular Franciscans strive to bring the Franciscan charism into our families, workplaces, and communities. We are bound by a Rule confirmed by the Catholic Church, promising to live a life of prayer, penance, and service.
About Us
Inspired by Saints Francis and Clare, and our patron, St. Thomas More, our mission is to:
- Deepen our relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ through prayer, scripture, and the sacraments
- Live simply, embracing a spirit of detachment from material possessions and worldly preoccupations
- Promote peace and justice by working on behalf of the marginalized for a more just world
- Recognize God’s presence in all of creation
- Support each other in our spiritual journeys and shared commitment
We meet regularly for prayer, formation, and friendship every third Sunday of the month at Good Shepherd Church in Camp Hill, PA. Certain times of the year are set aside for a fraternity retreat and fall picnic.
